Like bell bottom jeans, facial hair, and wall colors, carpet tiles have seen the ups and downs of home trends. They are extremely durable, easily replaceable, and versatile to almost any style and room. In our case, I installed them in our not yet updated basement den. Of course, we went with the mid modern multi color look.
The brand of carpet tiles we chose was from a European company called Bolyu. This was only one selection book of seven or eight.
As with any home improvement DIY projects the preparation steps take longer than the actual installation. Both of these products are typically sold at your big box stores. Because we installed this product over a cold concrete floor prepping the floor was a necessity.
This is a picture of the milky application of floor primer. It dries clear in about an hour then you are ready for the pressure sensitive flooring adhesive.
Actual installation isn’t difficult. You will go through a fair share of cutting blades so buy the contractor pack. And it is safe to assume your walls won’t be square so expect to do more cutting than anticipated.
And when you are all done, put on your beset leisure suit and light the fire. It’s time to chill.
